SPES PTA Scholarship

Scholarship application

Short Pump Elementary School PTA is pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Henrico County Public Schools. The recipient will be chosen after consideration of character, civic participation and academic record. A committee of PTA members and school personnel will review all applications. The scholarship will be awarded to one student according to the criteria listed below.

Application Criteria:

  1. The applicant must be a graduating senior, in good standing, of a Henrico County Public School or the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School.
  2. The applicant must have attended Short Pump Elementary for at least three years.
  3. The applicant must have maintained at least a 3.0 average in his/her secondary schools and must be verified by his/her current Guidance Counselor.
  4. The applicant should be pursuing a two or four year college degree; however, applicants pursuing a technical education leading to skilled certification will also be considered.
  5. The application should reflect scholastic achievements AND community involvement.
  6. The applicant must also submit the following supporting documents:
    • copy of the applicant’s high school transcript
    • letter of recommendation from a high school teacher
    • letter of recommendation from a community leader (Scout Leader, Coach, Employer, Minister, etc. – non-related)

Applications and supporting documents must be received by 3pm on the deadline.  Please allow sufficient time for mailing.  The PTA will not consider incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, or delayed applications.  Be sure to keep a copy for your records.
